CSV to JSON

Turn CSV files into clean JSON arrays with delimiter detection — processed in your browser.

Processed in your browser. Files never leave your device.

How it works

  1. Paste CSV or choose a file (header row required).
  2. Pick pretty/compact and empty-cell behavior.
  3. Convert, then copy or download data.json.

Turn CSV spreadsheets into JSON without uploading

Ops, analysts, and developers constantly move data from Sheets, Excel, or CRM exports into JSON for scripts, APIs, and frontends. Structura’s CSV to JSON converter does that conversion in the browser: paste or open a CSV, detect the delimiter, and download a JSON array of objects—without sending the sheet to a third-party upload tool.

Ideal when the file includes customer emails, internal IDs, or pricing; when you need a quick fixture from a spreadsheet; or when you want empty-cell behavior and number parsing under your control. Pair it with CSV Cleaner if the export is messy before conversion.

What the tool produces

Worked example

Input CSV:

name,email
Ada,ada@example.com

Convert with pretty print. Output:

[{ "name": "Ada", "email": "ada@example.com" }]

Quoted fields that contain commas or newlines stay in a single cell—important for notes columns and address lines. Header row is required; Excel .xlsx is not supported in v1 (export CSV first).

Privacy, retention, and limits

CSV content is processed locally and is not uploaded to Structura for conversion. We do not keep your spreadsheet as a server-side file. Safety ceilings apply around 5 MB or 20,000 rows so a tab does not lock up. Free, no account.

Numbers and booleans stay strings unless you opt into parsing—safer for IDs that look like numbers and for “TRUE”/“FALSE” text you want preserved. If your sheet has duplicate headers or junk rows, clean it first so the JSON keys stay predictable. That short prep step is usually faster than debugging bad keys later in an import script.

FAQ

Does my data get uploaded or stored?

No. Conversion and cleaning run entirely in your browser. Structura does not upload your paste or file for processing and does not retain file contents on a server. Closing the tab clears the in-memory copy.

Is processing private / local-only?

Yes for the tool’s job. Your payload stays on the device. Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics may record page views and anonymous events such as tool runs, paste vs file, and copy/download—never the contents of your JSON or CSV.

What size limits apply?

Browser safety ceilings apply at about 5 MB or 20,000 rows, whichever you hit first.

What formats are supported?

Delimited text: comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe (auto-detected). Paste or .csv / text file. Not Excel .xlsx—export CSV first.

Are numbers and booleans parsed automatically?

By default values stay strings. Opt into number/boolean parsing when you want typed JSON; leave it off for IDs that look numeric.

What if headers are messy?

Clean duplicate headers and junk rows with CSV Cleaner first so JSON keys stay predictable.

Do I need an account?

No. All Structura tools are free to use without signup.
