Remove PDF Metadata

See the hidden author, software, and dates stored in a PDF, remove them, and verify the result before you send it.

PDFs are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Select one or more PDFs.
  2. Structura lists the metadata each file contains, such as author name, title, and the app that created it.
  3. It removes the document information dictionary, XMP metadata, and application private data.
  4. Each cleaned file is re-opened and checked, then you download it, or a ZIP for several.

What your PDF says about you

PDFs exported from Word, Google Docs, design tools, and scanners usually carry the author's name or account, the original file title, the software and version used, and when the file was created and edited. That can reveal who drafted a document, that a "new" proposal was reused from another client, or which internal template was used.

Structura removes the document-level metadata and checks the result. Pages, text, images, links, and form fields are not changed.

What is removed

What is not removed

Visible content, comments and annotations, form field values, embedded attachments, and names that appear inside the document text are left as they are. If you need to hide text, redact it in the source document before exporting. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first. Files up to 50 MB, 200 per batch.

FAQ

Does my data get uploaded or stored?

No. Processing runs entirely in your browser. Structura does not upload your files for processing and does not keep file contents on a server. Closing the tab clears the in-memory copy.

Is processing private / local-only?

Yes for the tool’s job. Your files stay on the device. Optional Cloudflare Web Analytics may record page views and anonymous events such as tool runs and downloads, never file contents or file names.

How do I remove the author from a PDF?

Select the PDF here. Structura shows the author and other fields it found, removes them, verifies the cleaned file, and lets you download it.

Will the PDF look different afterwards?

No. Only metadata is removed. Pages, text, images, and links stay the same. The file is re-saved, so its size may change slightly.

Does this remove comments or tracked changes?

No. Annotations and comments are part of the document content. Remove them in your PDF editor, or remove tracked changes in the source document before exporting.

Can I clean many PDFs at once?

Yes. Select up to 200 PDFs and download them together as a ZIP.

Do I need an account?

No. All Structura tools are free to use without signup.
